Directive 2009/28/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2009 on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable envisages a system of certification of RES installers as well as accreditation of training centres for installers. The requirements of the Directive were implemented into Polish law by the Act of 20 February 2015 (with amendments) on renewable energy sources and. According to this Act, the Office of Technical Inspection is responsible for the accreditation of training organizations and certification of installers of microinstallations and small installations, as well as installations of a renewable energy source with a total thermal installed power of not more than 600 kW for the following types of renewable energy sources:
- biomass boilers and stoves,
- photovoltaic systems,
- solar heating systems,
- heat pumps,
- shallow geothermal systems.
